Won! Residential care complex for elderly in Beijing, China

GROUP A as partner of BNP (a joint venture in residential care projects) together with Van Veen Architecten and BEtween, has won the architects selection for the interior design of one of the first large scale new built residential care complexes for elderly people in China.

The pilot project in Beijing comprises around 600 care apartments for the elderly, with shared facilities including restaurants, (swimming)pools and a theater/cinema. In addition the development also caters for residents with dementia or other severe healthcare needs, and therefore provides ancillary care facilities such as clinics and physiotherapy rooms.

Key to the design concept of this large-scale project is to create a small scale atmosphere based on the ‘Dutch elderly housing approach’.

The commission includes the development of the programmatic content and the interior design for the overall development.
GFA: approx. 84,000 sqm.
