Open Monumentendag Hembrug: 23 industrial sites on display

Have you always been curious about how to reuse an industrial site? Come to the Hembrug terrain on Saturday 8 and 9 September, because this former military site is already breath-taking, but now there are also 23 industrial complexes on display.

On the occasion of the Open Monumentendag, Hembrug Zaandam, in cooperation with GROUP A, took the initiative to make an exhibition at the former head office (Building 8) at Hemburg. For this exhibition, we have made an inventory of very different industrial sites in Europe – this year’s theme, which have already been transformed or will be transformed in the future.

23 striking examples of industrial complexes in Europe have been exhibited, divided into five categories: Transport, Raw Materials, Company, Military and Mixed. Such as the Arsenale in Venice, Zeche Zollverein in Essen and Île de Nantes in Nantes. The new and redeveloped functions of these locations inspire us in our research. GROUP A is an office that likes to research and learn. So even after the exhibition we will continue this research to clear our vision for the design for our project ‘Urban design plan Hembrug terrain’. The brand new model of this project is also on display during the exhibition.
