Forum Utrecht wins THE PLAN Award 2023!

We are thrilled to annouce that Forum Utrecht has won the prestigious THE PLAN Award 2023 in the category Urban Planning! This annual international prize recognizes excellence in architecture, interior design and urban planning. We are extremely proud of this beautiful recognition for this public pedestrian area that, with a length of some 600 meters, offers address to offices, residential buildings and the Beatrix Theater.

The densification around Utrecht Central demanded clear choices. In the existing situation, the connections were unclear, unattractive and counterintuitive. In order to properly direct the quality of the connection between different modalities (both accessibility and clarity), the choice was made to give the pedestrian experience the highest priority, and the cyclist the second priority. By separating the pedestrian, bicycle and bus vertically instead of horizontally, transfer times have been greatly reduced. Once arrived by bike, bus or car, the visitor is guided through an attractive pedestrian area to the station, offices, residential buildings and many amenities. And vice versa.

THE PLAN Award 2023 awards ceremony, held in partnership with Monterosa 91, took place on the evening of Thursday, November 9, at Auditorium Monte Rosa 91 in Milan. The ninth edition of this international award for excellence in architecture, interior design, and urban planning saw over 1300 projects submitted from around the world. The international jury selected over 600 of these projects before arriving at the shortlist of finalists.
