Topping-out for Central Park in Utrecht
By placing the last prefab elements on the roof, Central Park has reached the 90 metres. The office building, located directly next to Utrecht Central Station, can now compete with the tallest buildings in Utrecht.
Central Park is part of the redevelopment of the station area and stands in the middle of the Forum, the elevated pedestrian area that connects Utrecht Central Station, the city centre and the Central Business District. The Forum, also designed by GROUP A, will be completed with the realisation of Central Park. At a height of 45 metres, in the heart of the office building, a two-storey subtropical park will be realised. From which the building takes its name.
In terms of sustainability, Central Park will have the BREEAM Excellent certification after completion. The building will be “all electric” with a heat and cold installation that will provide the energy supply and solar panels on the roof. Construction is on schedule and the office building is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021.
Building consortium Westflank Noord (VolkerWessels Zeist and VolkerWessels Rijssen) is responsible for the construction of Central Park and the parking garage underneath. Homij Technische Installaties is responsible for the implementation of the installations. The design was realised in an integrated design process. GROUP A is responsible for the architectural design of the building and the parking garage, Huygen Installatie consultants for the M&E advice, Van der Vorm for the structural design and Peutz provided the building physics advice. Central Park is a development by Angelo Gordon and APF International that is being advised by PEAK Development and will be included in the portfolio upon completion by the Bouwinvest Office Fund.
